This week on the Remnant Church Podcast, we explore the power, purpose, and promise of Pentecost. What really happened in Acts chapter 2 when the Holy Spirit came like a mighty rushing wind? Was Pentecost just a historical event, or is the promise of the Holy Spirit still available for believers today?

In this message, we unpack the biblical meaning of Pentecost, the prophetic significance of the Feast of Weeks, and how the outpouring of the Holy Spirit fulfilled God’s promise to His people. From the Upper Room experience to the transformation of the early church, this teaching reveals how the Spirit of God empowers ordinary people to live extraordinary lives.

You’ll also discover the connection between the Old Testament feasts and Jesus’ fulfillment of them through His death, burial, resurrection, and the sending of the Holy Spirit. Most importantly, this episode challenges believers to move beyond fear, tradition, and labels and fully receive the Holy Spirit as our Helper, Comforter, and source of power.

If you’ve ever wondered about Pentecost, the gifts of the Spirit, or what it truly means to live Spirit-filled, this episode will encourage and strengthen your faith.

Scriptures referenced include Acts 2, Leviticus 23, Acts 8, Acts 19, 1 Corinthians 15, and 2 Corinthians 3.

In this powerful message titled “Liberty!”, Pastor Andrew Hight continues the “Better Ministry” series by exploring Jesus’ declaration in Luke 4:18: “He has sent Me… to proclaim liberty to the captives.”

Jesus didn’t come only to save us for heaven — He came to bring freedom into every area of our lives. In this sermon, Pastor Andrew teaches how believers and unbelievers alike can experience bondage through sin, strongholds, emotional wounds, spiritual oppression, and destructive patterns. But through the truth of God’s Word and the power of Christ, freedom is available today.

Using passages from John 8, Luke 13, and Genesis 1, this message reveals how God’s spoken Word brings transformation, healing, and liberty. From addiction and pornography to fear, shame, jealousy, and spiritual heaviness, Jesus still breaks chains and sets captives free.

This sermon will encourage you to walk in the identity of being a son or daughter of God and embrace the truth that “whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”

Listen now and discover the freedom that Christ came to proclaim over your life.

In this powerful and deeply convicting message, we explore the spiritual significance of oil throughout Scripture and how it represents the presence, power, and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Through key passages like 1 Samuel 16:1 and 1 Chronicles 27:28, this message calls every believer to become intentional about stewarding what God has entrusted to them.

Too often, we think spiritual decline happens suddenly—but the truth is, it’s usually a slow leak. Small compromises, distractions, and neglect can quietly drain our passion, leaving us feeling distant from God without even realizing how we got there. This message brings awareness to those subtle patterns and challenges listeners to return to a place of hunger, conviction, and daily dependence on the Holy Spirit.

You’ll be encouraged—and challenged—through four key truths:

First, Don’t Lose Your Oil. We don’t lose the presence of God overnight. It happens gradually through compromise, pride, and disobedience. Like Saul, it’s possible to drift when we begin to value people’s opinions over God’s direction. But like David, we should cry out, “God, don’t take Your Spirit from me,” recognizing that His presence is more valuable than anything else.

Second, Don’t Waste Your Oil. God continually fills us with His Spirit, but it’s possible to waste what He’s pouring into us. Distractions, busyness, and casual faith can cause us to ignore conviction and miss what God is doing. Instead of being spiritually full and effective, we can end up drained and empty—not because God stopped pouring, but because we stopped stewarding.

Third, Don’t Hoard Your Oil. The Holy Spirit was never meant to sit idle in our lives. What God pours into us is meant to flow out of us. When we step out in faith, share our testimony, and live as witnesses, God multiplies what He’s given. Just like the jar of oil in 2 Kings, the miracle happens when we start pouring.

Finally, Don’t Take My Oil. Your relationship with God must be personal. You can’t rely on someone else’s faith, someone else’s anointing, or someone else’s pursuit of God. Borrowed oil won’t sustain you. There comes a moment where it’s just you and God—and in that moment, your own relationship with Him is what matters most.

This message ultimately asks a powerful question: Can God trust you with the oil?

In Scripture, Joash wasn’t known for leading armies or preaching sermons—he was known for protecting the oil. And in the same way, God is looking for people today who will value His presence enough to guard it, nurture it, and live it out daily.

If you’ve felt spiritually dry, distracted, or distant, this message is a call back to what matters most. It’s an invitation to stop the leaks, stop the waste, and become a faithful steward of the presence of God in your life.

Don’t lose it. Don’t waste it. Don’t hoard it. And don’t try to borrow it.

Protect the oil.

Welcome back to Better Ministry, a series focused on the five foundational ministries of Jesus as revealed in Luke 4. In this episode, titled “Emotional Healing,” we continue unpacking the powerful moment when Jesus stood in the synagogue in Nazareth and declared His mission to the world.

Reading from Luke 4:16–21, Jesus proclaims that the Spirit of the Lord had anointed Him to bring good news, freedom, restoration—and specifically, to heal the brokenhearted and set at liberty those who are oppressed. These weren’t just words for that moment; they are a declaration of what Jesus still desires to do in our lives today.

Last episode, we focused on the first ministry of Jesus—salvation. This week, we shift into a deeply personal and often overlooked area: emotional and internal healing.

What does it really mean to be “brokenhearted”? In this message, we explore the original Greek meaning behind the phrase. The word for “broken” carries the idea of being shattered, crushed, or bruised, while “heart” refers not just to a physical organ, but to the very core of who we are—the seat of our emotions, thoughts, and inner life.

Every person, at some point, experiences heartbreak. Whether through relationships, loss, disappointment, or life’s unexpected challenges, those wounds can leave lasting marks beneath the surface. Even when they’re not visible outwardly, they can shape how we think, feel, and respond to the world around us.

This episode takes a biblical and practical look at how Jesus doesn’t just heal spiritually or physically—He heals emotionally. He restores the places within us that have been bruised, shattered, and weighed down over time.

We also dive into what it means to be “oppressed” or “bruised” internally. Using the imagery of a bruise—an inward injury that may not always be visible—we examine how emotional wounds can resurface if not fully healed. Many people carry hidden pain for years, but the good news is that Jesus came to bring freedom from that burden.

Through passages like Psalm 147:3, we’re reminded that God not only heals the brokenhearted, but He also binds up our wounds, bringing restoration to the deepest parts of our lives.

This episode also includes a powerful, real-life testimony that illustrates how God still heals today—not just physically, but emotionally and internally. It’s a reminder that healing is not just something we read about in Scripture—it’s something we can experience personally.

If you’ve ever felt broken, weighed down, or wounded on the inside, this message offers hope, truth, and encouragement. Jesus is still in the healing ministry, and that includes every part of who you are.

Tune in and discover how emotional healing is not only possible—but promised through Christ.

Jesus announced his mission in his hometown synagogue by reading from Isaiah and declaring that the prophecy was fulfilled in their hearing.

When Jesus returned to his hometown of Nazareth, he went to the synagogue and read from the prophet Isaiah about the Messiah's mission to preach good news to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, and proclaim liberty to captives. After reading this messianic prophecy, Jesus delivered what might be the shortest but most powerful message ever preached: eight words that changed everything. He declared that the scripture was fulfilled in their hearing, essentially announcing himself as the long-awaited Messiah.

The response from his hometown crowd was shock and offense. They couldn't accept that this carpenter's son would claim to be the Savior of the world. Jesus made the situation even more challenging by reminding them of Old Testament stories where God's prophets helped Gentiles instead of Jewish people, demonstrating that salvation wasn't exclusive to one ethnic group. This message was so offensive that the crowd literally tried to throw him off a cliff, but Jesus miraculously escaped.

Jesus came to bring good news, not good advice. While good advice tells us to try harder, good news announces that Jesus has already done the work for us. He came to save all people - regardless of ethnicity, nationality, or background - who recognize their spiritual poverty and need for a Savior. Today is still the acceptable year of the Lord, and Jesus remains in the saving business, ready to rescue anyone who responds to his call.

Palm Sunday reveals a profound paradox: while crowds celebrated Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem shouting 'Hosanna,' Jesus wept over the city. His tears weren't from sadness but from love, knowing the people were spiritually blind to the peace He came to bring. The same crowds who welcomed Him would soon cry 'Crucify Him!'

Palm Sunday presents one of the most emotionally complex moments in Jesus' ministry. As crowds gathered to celebrate His royal entry into Jerusalem, shouting 'Hosanna' - meaning 'save us, we pray' - from Psalm 118, Jesus responded with tears. This wasn't quiet weeping but audible crying and groaning over the city He loved. His tears revealed both divine compassion and prophetic insight into what lay ahead.

Jesus wept because He saw the spiritual blindness of the people, especially the religious leaders who should have recognized their Messiah. He knew that the same voices praising Him would soon demand His crucifixion. More profoundly, He understood His true mission - not just to be a conquering king, but to become the ultimate sacrifice. Psalm 118 prophetically described both His triumph and rejection, declaring that 'the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.'

The peace Jesus came to bring wasn't merely the absence of conflict, but a deep, abiding peace that comes through His sacrificial love. His tears on Palm Sunday demonstrate a love so profound that it willingly embraced suffering to provide eternal security and freedom from fear. This agape love breaks the bondage of seeking human approval and offers instead the unshakeable foundation of divine acceptance. Today, Jesus still offers this same peace to anyone willing to receive it, but we must not miss our moment of visitation as the religious leaders did.

This same pride caused Satan's fall from heaven and infected humanity through Adam and Eve. Pride manifests in three ways: not giving God glory for our achievements, accepting praise that belongs to Him, and speaking arrogantly instead of humbly.

Many believers find themselves exhausted from trying to produce what only God can provide, but we were created for rest, not endless toil. In the Garden of Eden, Adam's first day was spent resting in God's presence, and his work was worship, not burden. The fall changed tending into toiling, but through Jesus Christ, we can return to biblical rest. This means working from worship rather than working toward worth, seeking God first before tackling our day, and trusting His provision instead of striving for security. Rest isn't found in achievements or vacations, but in the person of Jesus Christ who IS our rest.

In Jesus's second temptation, the devil quoted Psalm 91 out of context, trying to get Jesus to force God's hand and seek popularity through a spectacular miracle. Jesus resisted because He didn't need man's approval and trusted God's better plan. Today, we face similar temptations to seek validation through social media and human approval. The truth is, we don't need to be popular in people's eyes because we're already the apple of God's eye. When we change what we're looking to, we change what we're looking for.

Life's overwhelming pressures can leave us feeling like we're drowning in anxiety, but research shows that 85% of our worries never actually happen. The word 'worry' originally meant 'to choke,' which perfectly describes how anxiety affects our ability to breathe. Through the story of a deaf man in Mark 7, we learn three key lessons: silence doesn't protect us from pain, crowds can't heal our deepest wounds, and Jesus understands our struggles. God's peace is available right now through intentional breathing, honest communication about our struggles, and creating space for intimate time with Him. Every breath is a gift from God, and with each exhale, we can release burdens we were never meant to carry.

In a world of uncertainty, the declaration that the Lord is our shepherd offers profound comfort and hope. Scripture compares believers to sheep not as an insult, but as a truth about our dependent nature and constant need for guidance. Just like sheep who often find themselves in dangerous situations, we frequently fall into spiritual ditches and need our Good Shepherd to rescue us repeatedly.Jesus demonstrates His superiority as our shepherd through four key roles. As Jehovah Jireh, He provides what we need rather than everything we want, which is actually better for us. As Jehovah Shalom, He offers true peace and contentment that transcends circumstances, making us lie down in green pastures beside still waters. As Jehovah Rapha, He heals our broken souls and binds up our wounds when life crushes us. As Jehovah Tsidkenu, He leads us in paths of righteousness, providing the only way to true righteousness through faith in Him.The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel, which cried out for vengeance. Instead, Jesus' blood declares love, forgiveness, reconciliation, provision, peace, healing, and righteousness. This week, we can experience this better life by following the Good Shepherd more closely through daily time in God's Word and worship, trusting that His provision exceeds our wants and His rescue is always available when we fall.

The Christmas Story

The Christmas Story

Genesis 3:1-15
1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” 12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

Luke 1:26-38
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, you that are highly favored, the Lord is with you: blessed art you among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for you have found favor with God. 31 And, behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of you shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, your cousin Elisabeth, she has also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Luke 2:1-7
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:8-14
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Isaiah 7:14
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 2: 1-11
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. 7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when you have found Him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship Him also. 9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

1 Peter 1: 18-25
18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose Him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days He has been revealed for your sake. 21 Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because He raised Christ from the dead and gave Him great glory. 22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. 23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 24 As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field.
The grass withers and the flower fades. 25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

Revelation 5
1 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. 4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” 6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. 8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.” 11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!” 13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” 14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;

Let Us Pray

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NKJV)
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Two things we misunderstand about God: #1 The Sovereignty of God

Sovereignty:
S-O-V-E, and the word, “REIGN”. "reign”: to rule over The S-O-V-E at the beginning, means supreme. So Sovereignty is Supreme Reign.

Jeremiah 32:8-11 (NKJV)
8 Then Hanamel my uncle’s son (this would be Jeremiah’s cousin), came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the Lord, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord. 9 So I bought the field from Hanamel, the son of my uncle who was in Anathoth, and weighed out to him the money—seventeen shekels of silver. 10 And I signed the deed and sealed it, took witnesses, and weighed the money on the scales. 11 So I took the purchase deed, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open;

Matthew 16:15-19 (NKJV)
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land
